Summer Creek; Restaurant, Brewery, Function centre
Introduction:
Hi there!
We are a family business, set on a heritage property of 100 acres, in the Avon Valley. Only 40 minuets from the metro area.
Part of WA History
Summer Creek Farm was originally taken up by Edward V. H. Keane, while building the railway line from Chidlow (Wells ) to York. Keane put in vines and it was amongst the first vineyards established in the state. Originally called Mt. Baker Vineyard, it was in production until 1970.
Keane, as an engineer, built 500 miles of railway in W.A. and went on to build many buildings in both Perth and Fremantle, most well know being the Fremantle Town Hall, and finishing off St Georges Cathedral after the original engineer died. His other achievements were being the largest employer in the state at one time. Starting the Midland railway yards that have now all but disappeared. Lord Mayor of Perth, and a member in the WA parliament. He died in 1905.
Restaurant Brewery
We are a restaurant (Summer Creek Restaurant) & micro brewery ( Wheatbelt Brewery).
We brew and can and distribute our own beer to a few select locations around the region.
In the restaurant we do all our own home country cooking which includes the wood fired pizza oven. We make our own bread and pizza bases. We use our own produce as much as possible, for example, salads and honey ice cream from our own hives.
